In his final week Ralek demonstrates how to control your opponent from full mount. This technique is great for self defense, BJJ or MMA. He explains that it is all about the opposite side hooks and staying low.
We coaxed Ralek into showing us a "secret" technique. He said a lot of people ask his about his armbar setup that he catches so often. Ralek walks us through the steps necessary to close the deal and submit your opponent. He also stresses the importance of making sure both legs are over your opponents body. If you follow this blueprint your armlock percentage will increase drastically.
Ralek shares another secret with us this week. Standard defense from the armlock position is to grab your own collar or your own wrist. Ralek demonstrates two ways to break the grip. One of his secrets is to shake the head of his opponent vibrating the hand free. This shaking makes you lose focus and release the grip. It is very uncomfortable and a bit frustrating on the receiving end. Give it a try in your next class!
This week we welcome new expert of the month, Ralek Gracie. Ralek is the grandson of Helio Gracie and he does not disappoint. This week Ralek shares some of his secrets for securing the triangle. He always off balances his opponent and never lets them control his collar. This technique is very high percentage and works in sport bjj, mma or on the street.
This is Rafael Rebello's final week with us and he does not disappoint. He continues from last weeks position but finishes with a dynamic cartwheel and a choke. It's important to keep a good base when landing and maintain pressure and a good grip on your opponent's collar. Watch it and make it your own!
This week, Rafael Rebello moves into the top side control position. He demonstrates two chokes when your opponent frames your neck. This chicken wing control will frustrate your opponent and if they try to pull their wing out you will have something sweet and crispy waiting for them.
Rafael Rebello continues this week from the turtle position. His opponent tries to defend and Rafael exploits his defense creating an opportunity for submission. This is a slick triangle setup and you need to make sure you secure the position before going on the attack.
This week we welcome Rafael Rebello. Rafa shows us three very effective techniques for attacking the turtle position. All three techniques are very high percentage moves and work well in competition. In his last technique he demonstrates the perched owl. You have seen this on highlight films but never broken down like this.
Shark has shown us why swimming in his waters is full of traps. In his final week he demonstrates an dynamic move when your opponent tries to apply the leg drag pass. Shark moves into the reverse spider guard position and then to a nice omoplata sweep. Revisit the past three weeks and get proficient with the techniques to make your open guard dangerous.
Emyr "Shark" continues this week with a really fancy sweep. This works well when your opponent tries to sit into inverted half guard. You need to be on time with this one and make sure to execute it before your opponent drops their hips on the tatami. Shark calls this sweep the lawnmower because you need to catch and stretch.
