This week Wilson demonstrates a super cool sweep from deep half guard. It's important that you lock down your opponents legs, especially the one around your head. If your opponent gets that leg free, he may pass your guard. Try this sweep slowly at first until you get a good rythem. It is a high percentage move if applied right but don't skip any steps!
If you are a fan of Wilson Reis, you know he is game for the fancy technique. Well, he does not disappoint this month! For his first week, he showed us a move that he used at the Boston Open to beat an opponent. It is important that you leave enough room on the collar grip so that when you roll, there is slack for your arm and wrist. Also, make sure to tuck your chin and don't roll over your head. Try it out slowly before going full speed.
This week Jared Weiner shows us a really nice setup from x-guard. After the sweep he ends up in a very tight leg drag position. Make sure you secure the position before transitioning to side control or the back. You need to lock down your opponent's top leg so he can't replace his guard.
In his third week Jared shows us a great way to land a tight foot lock from x-guard. As he explains there are tons of ways to get to x-guard, this one shows how to deal with someone that can see it coming or has good balance. This is a great progression but be sure and learn all the details Jared talks about to make this a high percentage move.
This week, Jared continues his series from Issue #122. Go back and watch last week before watching this week because Jared shows you how to get into the crucifix from the deep half guard position. Once the position is established, the crucifix is there for the taking. If your opponent is too strong to finish, simply continue with the guard pass and secure the points.
This week we present expert Jared Weiner from BJJ United / Team Lloyd Irvin. Jared teaches us how to kill the deep half guard and secure the crucifix position while you pass. He also shows us a couple really nice choke positions. Jared is an active competitor and all his techniques have been tried and tested on the battleground. This technique is very high percentage.
In her final week Mackenzie shows us this great sweep from reverse DLR to setup a perfect leg lock. Mackenzie has amazing technique so be sure and watch for the details and tips she gives. We would like to thank Mackenzie also for coming out to the immersion camp we hosted this summer to teach and making the camp tons of fun!
In her final week Mackenzie shows us a very sneaky wrist lock that most oponents wont see coming. For anyone that is new to the sport be careful and be sure to give your oponent the chance to tap because a wrist lock comes on very fast.
Mackenzie Dern is the most exciting up and coming female grappler. She is a multi time world champion and has one of the most dynamic games in BJJ. This week she shows us a nice Omoplata Sweep setup locking her leg using her opponent's lapel. Make sure you get a good pendulum motion with your free leg to make the sweep happen.
In Braulio's last week he does not disappoint. Braulio has been following a sequence for the past few weeks based off a sweep. This week he combines the sweep, triangle and hip bump sweep all into one. This series is very high percentage and once mastered it will become a deadly part of your arsenal.
