This week we work on a side control/knee on stomache transition drill. You can start slow and get the feeling for the fundamental movement. It's important to make sure you hide your feet, keeping your opponent from getting half guard. Once you get familiar with the movement, pick up the pace a bit. Do this drill for :60 seconds at a time.
This week, Dedeco demonstrates a very effective move when your opponent digs for the underhook in hopes to replace his guard or pick up a single leg. With your inside arm, thread your arm to control your opponents head and shoulder. Remember, their body has to follow their head. This move works great as a transition and will improve your top control 100%
This week our drill for skill is transitional guard passing. The bottom player is looking to replace his guard by stepping over the body of his opponent. The key to this drill is getting a good grip on the person that is standings leg and when you get to their side try to be square to them on your hands and knees. Since this drill is fairly low impact it is great for conditioning. Get a partner and see how fast and how many you can do in 2 minutes and for a harder workout try adding more time!
This drill helps work your great break as well as helps strenthen your grips. Unlike other drills that I would normally say push it, this one I would keep the time to a minimum just so you don't risk injuring a finger
